The Sensitivity Design Workshop "Kansei in Future Cities; future urban design through the fusion of technology and sensitivity" was held at the University of Tsukuba for 5 days from 3 to 7 September 2018 in collaboration between the University of Tsukuba and Tsinghua University (China).

In the opening ceremony on 3 September, Mayor of Tsukuba City Tatsuo Igarashi gave a lecture on the charm of the city and future vision. Participating students addressed many questions and opinions. Representing the Faculty of Art and Design, Dean Kei Oota offered words of encouragement to weave a new cloth into city development, comparing Tsinghua University to warps and the University of Tsukuba to wefts.

In the workshop, students of the two universities organized a team to make proposals for improving the future city based on sensitivity design, through group discussions and fieldworks. On the final day they made a presentation of their outcome.
