The 43rd Spring Sports Day

The 43rd Spring Sports Day was held on May 11 (Sat) and 12 (Sun) at the University of Tsukuba. The Sports Day is a semi-annual two-day sporting event for students and staff of the university. It is planned and organized by members of the Sports Day Student Committee. Some 10,000 participants enjoy the sporting event every year.

Blessed with the fine weather, softball, basketball, soft volleyball, dodgeball, futsal, tennis, orienteering, and handball, which are Olympic official events, were played and participants showed off all their hard work. In addition, participants enjoyed adaptive sports (wheelchair portball) and bubble football, mini-games planned by the Sports Day Student Committee. Workshops and training sessions open to the public were also held in cooperation with university clubs which provide a fun experience.

At the end, a balloon-releasing ceremony took place. Thanks to the efforts of the Sports Day Student Committee members, the 43rd Autumn Sports Day was a great success.
