President Nagata Attends the 11th Japan-China University Presidents Conference

The 11th Japan-China University Presidents Conference was held on November 6. President Kyosuke Nagata, Vice President Benton Caroline (Global Affairs) attended the conference from the University of Tsukuba.

The conference has been held since 1999 serving as a place to activate exchange among universities in Japan and China and exchange views among university presidents in both countries.

The 11th conference was held under the theme of "Open New Doors to Collaboration from Now to the Future". Nineteen universities and five institutions including the University of Tsukuba attended the conference from Japan, and seventeen universities and one institution, including Peking University, Fudan University, and Nankai University, attended from China.

The conference began with keynote lectures by President Aiji Tanaka of Waseda University and Vice President WANG Bo of Peking University. After the lectures, participants attended a session. They were divided into two groups based on two topics: "The role of university in the globalization of higher education -Academic Value and Contribution to Society in a Compatible Way-" in the first session, and "Asian Role Model of the Collaborative Education and Research ?Share the practice of the collaborative project among China and Japan-" in the second. Group members exchanged opinions and made presentations based on each theme.

President Nagata presented in the second session with the theme of "Asian collaborative Models -AEARU as an example-."
