The 43rd Autumn Sports Day

The 43rd Autumn Sports Day was held for 2 days on November 16 and 17 at the University of Tsukuba. The Sports Day is a semi-annual two-day sporting event for students and staff of the university. It is planned and organized by members of the Sports Day Student Committee. Every year, more than 10,000 participants enjoy two days of sports activities.

Blessed with the fine weather, football, kickball, and soft tennis took place on the athletic field and volleyball and badminton were played indoors. In addition, participants enjoyed adaptive sports (wheelchair portball), bubble football, and mini-games planned by the Sports Day Student Committee. Workshops and training sessions open to the public were also held in cooperation with university clubs which provide a fun experience for those who rarely exercise.

On the second day, an Ekiden marathon took place where runners enjoyed running at full speed on a course not ordinarily used for running.

At the end, a balloon-releasing ceremony took place. Thanks to the efforts of the Sports Day Student Committee members, the 43rd Autumn Sports Day was a great success.
