The delegation included Governor Doug Burgum together with his wife, Kathryn, and Todd Steinwand, the President and CEO of the Bank of North Dakota. Other members included North Dakota state government officials, faculty from North Dakota State University and the University of North Dakota, and JETRO officials. The delegation enjoyed a friendly conversation with the following members of the University, among others: President NAGATA Kyosuke, Vice President and Executive Director for Global Affairs BENTON Caroline F., Vice President and Executive Director for Research WADA Hiroshi, and Executive Officer OHNEDA Osamu (Director for Office of Global Initiatives).

This visit was made possible by JETRO, which approached the University of Tsukuba to discuss possible academic and research exchanges with North Dakota State University, University of North Dakota, and other public-private organizations in North Dakota state.

Governor Doug Burgum and other members of the delegation emphasized that the University of Tsukuba is an important partner for North Dakota. They expressed hope that the cooperation would continue to strengthen, including with regard to the Tsukuba Super Science City concept, centered around the fields of agriculture and IT.

Going forward, there are expectations that this meeting will promote exchange and collaboration with the North Dakota State Government, North Dakota State University, and the University of North Dakota.
