Professor SAKURAI Tetsuya, Director of the Center for Artificial Intelligence Research confirms collaboration with NVIDIA

Professor SAKURAI Tetsuya, Director of the Center for Artificial Intelligence Research (Then), participated in GTC 2025, one of the world's largest AI conferences, held in San Jose, California, USA, from March 17 to 21.
Hosted by the US semiconductor giant NVIDIA, the conference brought together AI experts and companies from all over the world to engage in lively discussions on the latest AI technologies and their applications.
University of Tsukuba has partnered with University of Washington as part of AI partnership between Japan and the United States, with NVIDIA expected to contribute a total of US $ 25 million to support both universities.

On March 19, Professor SAKURAI met with Jack Wells, Director of Higher Education and Research Computing at NVIDIA, to exchange opinions about the partnership. After the meeting, Professor SAKURAI commented, "We discussed how we could cooperate including the use of NVIDIA's various tools and GPUs in our research, as well as organizing seminars and training courses for students. As the University of Tsukuba, we aim to establish a robust AI research base in Japan."
