The opening ceremony for the Intensive Japanese Course for the Japanese Government (Monbukagakusho) Scholarship students who entered the University of Tsukuba in April of 2025 was held at the University of Tsukuba Center for Education of Global Communication (CEGLOC) on April 15. The ceremony was attended by students who enrolled in the course and CEGLOC staff.


The ceremony began with a speech by Professor ONO Masaki of the Institute of Humanities and Social Sciences (Director of CEGLOC).


A total of 11 international students will be enrolled in a four-month Japanese language course at CEGLOC. Students are expected to become familiar with the Japanese language and culture by participating in various events on and off campus, easing their transition to Japanese life and academia.


The students hail from the following countries: Algeria (1), Ethiopia (1), Gambia (1), Nigeria (2), South Africa (1), Pakistan (1), Peru (1), Botswana (1), Malaysia (1), Morocco (1).
